Clean the inside of the washer and dryer

Your washer and dryer are probably the most used appliances in your home. Depending on the model and style, your washer may be susceptible to mold and mildew because the water doesn’t fully drain and the door stays closed. There are products on the market that you can use to disinfect your washer and dryer, which is important to keep your family healthy with the clothes they wear every day.

How to clean a washing machine

There are two or three areas to clean with your washing machine.  The first is the small cups where you put detergent, bleach, or fabric softener that can have buildup over time.  You can clean these out with some lemon juice, baking soda and a tooth brush.

The next part is the actual drum that spins and washes your clothes.  If you put a mixture of water and white vinegar in the machine, and run it, this will clean out any mildew and odor from the drum.

Some newer washing machines have a small filter at the bottom as well.  Remember to remove the filter and clean out with a simple soapy solution, and pick out any hair or debris.

Here is a video from eHow that is great to watch.
