Replace batteries in carbon monoxide detectors

Replace batteries in carbon monoxide detectors

Carbon monoxide detectors evaluate the presence of a dangerous gas that can come from fuel burning devices, such as fireplaces, gas appliances, and gas fired equipment. Carbon monoxide is referred to as a silent killer because it is odorless, colorless, and tasteless. Be sure to use the test function of your carbon monoxide detectors to ensure they are properly working and to check and replace the batteries as required.

Installing carbon monoxide detectors

Read the instructions of your unit to determine where in the home to install it.  Climb a sturdy step ladder and install the mounting ring using some screws.  Install the appropriate battery into the unit, and attach it to the mounting ring.  Press the test button to make sure it works and you know what the chirping noise sounds like.

Use the same process to replace the batteries on a yearly basis.  Here is a video from Howcast on how to do it.
